A partnership spanning decades started as a high school friendship. While dabbling in several projects together, it wasn’t until Christmas eve of 1976 that in the footsteps of their forefathers, they took the family knowledge of Florentine traditions in bookbinding, marbling and design and formed Il Papiro. The first store - Via Cavour 55r, Florence
Their love of Florence and their commitment to the artisan techniques of its history is the driving force behind Il Papiro. What started as one bottega with a workshop at the back has grown into a business that has become part of the very fabric of the Florentine retail landscape. Their passion transmitted through their little paper shops leaves a lasting impression on all who visit, and this might just be the secret of their success.
Their legacy is in honouring generations of artisans.

This same shared and contagious passion is reflected in our franchising projects: stories born from individuals who fell in love with our products and, over time, have carried the name of Il Papiro far and wide. Throughout the years, Il Papiro has been featured in leading fashion and lifestyle magazines, chosen by notable personalities and public figures, but above all experienced every day by individuals, each with their own story.

Limited Editions for our 50th Anniversary
To celebrate this anniversary, Il Papiro introduces a new logo and a Peacock marbled paper design, in an original color palette influenced by gold, reflecting a spirit of ongoing research and the desire
to honor this important occasion. From this vision comes a limited-edition notebook: 200 pieces, handcrafted by our artisans and individually numbered. Each one different, each one unique. Additionally, a canvas tote bag is also available, enriched with a hand-painted watercolor by our artisans, depicting the exterior of one of our stores and the life that,for fifty years, has unfolded in front of its windows.
